Rosalind Brown – Theology of the diaconate – York conference 2014, Session 2

Until 12 century deacons were “icons of Christ” and not the priest.

The Christological foundation of the diaconate needs broadening and strengthening the Holy Spirit is life-giving and enhancing.

“The leadership of deacons is underplayed because it is not about governance, deacons are part of the dance of God”.

See John, 17: 20-23.

And so we begin...

So...

Here am I.

Let's start with the basics.

I am a 37 year old male worshiper at St Lawrence Church in Heanor, Derbyshire.

For better or for worse I am a member of the Church of England.

I am at the beginning stages of leaning about the diaconate, what it is, what it means to me, what it has meant and what it means to today and tomorrow's churches.

One of the... oh so very subtle *cough* "suggestions" made by the rural dean as part of this process it to keep a journal.

Only one issue with that....

I. Never. Managed. To. Keep. A. Journal. For. More. Than. A. Week!

So, here am I, trying a blog instead.

Welcome.
